Shindler's List is a true story about the Holocaust and a man named Oskar Shindler. He was a part of the Nazi party but did not believe in what was being done to the Jews. He came up with a plan to buy the Jews, he outwitts Hitler and saves many helpless jews. The movie is his journey and the journey of the jews and what they went through in the Holocaust. Shindler reaches his goal, although not to his satisfaction. He then has to flee in order to not be condemed by the Nazi's, for going against the law.
To me power is a very dangerous thing. It is somthing that is easily taken advantage of and if the wrong person gets a hold of it things can go terribly wrong. This is exactly what happened in the Holocaust. Hitler was a twisted man who knew how to 0btain power and when he got it he used it to his advantage and became the world's worst villan. Shindler on the other hand used his power for good. He realized the abilities he had because of his social standing and decided to help others and be a hero. Although at first Shindler did not use the power he has for good. He was just like all the other Nazi's, but he came to a realization that what was happening was sick and wrong. He changed his ways and made a remarkable impact.
I thought this film was extremely effective. One part specifically that stands out to me was the little girl in red. She kind of created an emotion where you became attachted to a certain character, rather than a large group. By becoming aware of one certain person has a much larger effect rather than just being aware of the large group. And it was extremely sadening when we saw her being dumped into the pit. It's sad when you see people being killed, but when you see one you recognize it becomes much more real.
